Cultural Appropriation and Donkeys
The domestic donkey (Equus Africanus asinus) is a hoof-mammal belonging to the family Equidae. The African wild ass is the ancestor Jav Censored of the domestic donkey that was originally from Africa. Depending on the species, the domestic donkey may be classified as a subspecies of wild ass, Jav Censored or Footjob as a separate species.
Arse vs ass
“Arse” is a British Slang term for Big-Boobs a’stupid person but is it an abbreviation for “ass”? This is where there is confusion because both are derived from a group of horselike creatures. In the USA the correct name for Donkeys is “Ass”.
Arse was originally a non-offensive term that refers to an organ. However it has since evolved into an offensive term. In the 19th century, the word ‘ass was developed as a variant of arse. It was originally a term used to describe an animal that resembled horses however, Camgirl in the 1860s it evolved into the term used to describe an afterword. It is also used in the expression ‘to arse around’. ‘Ass’ is also used in the phrase “to make an ass of oneself as an association with ‘to groan about’. However, there are many threads of meaning from arse that aren’t present in the word “ass”.
Appropriateness in popular Culture
We frequently see instances in which an dominant culture is able to adopt elements of a minority’s culture. This practice, which is known as cultural appropriation, could cause feelings of disdain from members of minority groups. Many Black people view this as a patronizing act, whether it’s wearing a Native American headdress to a music festival or wearing blackface for Halloween.
In addition to incorporating aspects of minority cultures the dominant group may also take advantage of intellectual property from the minority group. This is possible through blackfishing for instance. It is important to consider that people of color have a long history of being marginalized and denied rights. For example, when you see a person of color wearing a costume of blackface it is important to consider the history of black people being marginalized.
