Cultural Appropriation and Donkeys
No matter whether you see it as an ancestor or Sextape as a descendant, the domestic donkey (Equus africanus asinus) is one of the hoofed mammals in the family of Equidae. Originally from Africa, the domestic donkey comes from the African wild ass. Depending on the species, 3Way domestic donkeys can be classified as subspecies, or as a separate species.
Arse vs. Ass
“Arse” is an British expression for a stupid person’, Pornstars but is it an equivalent of “ass”? There’s a bit of confusion here because both are based on horses, Body-Massage which are a type of animal. In the USA the correct term for humped a donkey is “Ass”.
Arse was originally a non-offensive term that refers to an organ or part of the body. However it has since evolved into a vulgar term. “Ass” was an alternative to the arse word in the 19th century. It was initially a term to describe horses-like animals. However, it was transformed into an slang term to describe a posterior Body-Massage in the 1860s. It is also used in the expression “to get arsey about”. “Ass” is also used in the phrase “to make an ass out of oneself that has an association with ‘to groan about’. However there are many threads of meaning in arse that aren’t present in the word ‘ass’.
Appropriateness in popular culture
Sometimes, we encounter situations where a dominant cultural group adopts elements from a minority group’s culture. This practice, known as cultural appropriation, could result in a lack of respect from members of minority groups. Whether it is wearing an Native American headdress at a music festival or wearing blackface for Halloween, a lot of Black people believe that it is an act of patronizing.
In addition to incorporating elements of minority cultures, a dominant group can also make use of intellectual property belonging to the minority group. This is possible through blackfishing for instance. It is important to remember that people of color have a long history of being marginalized and deprived of rights. For instance, if you see a person of color wearing a blackface Halloween costume it is important to consider the history of black people being excluded.
