Most replacement window handles made of upvc include everything you require, however if the previous handle was fitted with screws or pins that were holding it, they must be removed. Next remove the’snap in’ cover on the base of the handle.

Espag
Espag handles are a multipoint lock system that can be used to secure casement windows, such as uPVC and wooden double glazing. Espag handles, also referred as shootbolts, give more security than the single point lock found on older window frames.

You may have to remove any screws that are protecting the screws that hold the handle in place and if that’s the case, use a screwdriver or pliers to remove the pins holding the handle. After you have removed the screws or pins that hold the spindle in place, you can disassemble the handle.
After removing the handle, you can open the locking mechanism in the frame of the windows. You can then remove the cockspur block connected to the handle. This will allow the window to be opened. Cockspur
Cockspur handles can be found on older uPVC or aluminium windows. The spindle, or in certain cases the entire handle is removed by unwinding the handle. The replacement handle is then fixed using a pair pozidrivs screws. The pozidriv screws come in either a brass or zinc finish to match the existing hardware, and there is the option of a self-locking version.
