The Best Self Emptying Robot Vacuum
The most effective robot vacuums that self-empty come with a base which holds an entire month’s worth of debris and automatically empty it. It also creates a detailed map of your home which allows you to label rooms and create “no-go” zones.
It also is equipped with superior obstacle avoidance capabilities, so that it can stay away from power cords and rogue socks.
Roomba s9+ from iRobot
This is among the top models from iRobot and it certainly performs well. It can easily move across different surfaces, and is very effective at taking dust, dirt and other debris up. It’s also very sturdy and looks good as well.
The S9 is the latest model of iRobot’s premium S Series line of robot vacuums. As such, it boasts many additional features that distinguish it from other models. For instance, the iRobot app uses the camera of this model to create an interactive map of your home which allows it to navigate and clean effectively.
There’s no need to clean the same spots over and over again if the battery runs out. You can also manually start cleaning sessions and stop them with a simple voice command or using the iRobot app. The smart vacuum can also clean in the dark!
Another great feature is Carpet Boost, which gives the S9 additional suction power when it comes into contact with carpeting, to collect even more dirt and dust. The unit also has a square front design that is more close to the corners and walls than older round designs. However, keep in mind that this model won’t work well with shag or high-pile carpeting.
During our tests, we discovered that the iRobot S9+ cleaned thoroughly and efficiently a variety floor surfaces including medium and hard carpets. It also did well on tiles, laminate floors, and vinyl flooring. It also did a good job of maneuvering around objects and furniture, however it had some issues with stairs, and can accidentally crash into things like bookcases.
The S9’s capability to automatically return to its base and empty its dust bin once it is full was a fantastic feature. It cut down on the need for manual maintenance. The dust bin will last for about 30 loads or a month and half. You’ll need to replace the filter every few months (as recommended by iRobot). In our experience, the iRobot S9+ doesn’t get extremely loud when it’s in use which makes it a good choice for people who live with kids or pets.
Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid
Robot vacuum cleaners are designed to do the dirty work for you, and can be used to clean hardwood and carpeted flooring. Certain robot vacuum cleaners can be controlled by a smartphone application, while others come with mopping technology to kitchen and bathroom flooring. They’re a great solution for busy families, and they’re becoming more affordable than ever before. If you want the latest technology in your robotic cleaner, then you’ll have to pay a little more.
The Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid vacuum and mopping machine is an excellent option for those who live in a multi-floored apartment. The vacuum’s 0.6l bin can hold a large amount of pet hair. Its dual motors offer impressive cleaning power. The dustbin can be taken away and emptied easily which is beneficial because you’ll need to do it regularly.
It’s simple to set up and I would recommend fully charging the X8 Hybrid before running it for robo Mops the first time. Install the Eufy Home application and follow the instructions to connect it to your WiFi network. The app will then help you create a map of your home. You can name the rooms, split large areas into sub-rooms to make it easier for open-plan living, and help direct the X8 Hybrid towards specific areas that need to be cleaned at a certain time. Eufy’s application is more user-friendly and Robo Mops refined than other robots with similar mapping and scanning functions.
The X8 Hybrid has a great feature: you can control the mop or vacuum through voice thanks to the integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. This is a great feature that makes the robot more hands-free. It worked well in our test home.
Like other robotic vacuums, the X8 Hybrid has some issues with bare floors. It is prone to miss pet hair and small objects, and it is prone to bump into things, like its own charger on the charging base. It’s not as quiet as other models we’ve tried, and the whirring noise could be distracting.
Roborock V3S pro
This robot isn’t as feature-rich as some of the more expensive models we evaluated, but it has all the essentials. It has a huge enough dust bin to hold plenty of dirt until it needs emptying, and its mop and vacuum system is perfect for Robo Mops carpets with low pile and hard floors. It’s also extremely quiet and we were able to watch the TV while it was working without feeling like it was blazing us with noise.
Our test participants were extremely pleased by how simple the machine was to use and set up. They also loved its ability to remove all the mess from their floors. It also did a excellent job of removing pet hair and messes on carpeting, though it wasn’t as successful in tackling stubborn stuck-on staining. They found the app user-friendly and intuitive, and they were able to schedule the vacuum to be cleaned on a regular basis to help reduce how much they had to manually do. It doesn’t have any mapping or object avoidance technology, so it can’t be sent to specific rooms or follow virtual borders (though magnetic boundaries can be used).
The V3S Pro is another model that is part of iRobot’s affordable line. It has some impressive features at an affordable cost. It was the best of all robotic vacuums in our tests in terms of finding and avoiding obstacles and it’s the best budget option for those who want a smarter self-emptying robot vacuum that can take care of pet hair and messes on both carpeting and hardwood floors. It is also very quiet and has a large dust bin that can hold a lot before it’s time to empty it.
While the V3S Pro didn’t earn a spot in our top picks roundups of trusted sources that perform hands-on tests, it received high marks from reviewers at Modern Castle, Smart Robot Reviews, and The Ambient. They were impressed with the ease with which it was setup and use, however they did note that its battery life is short and it didn’t manage to stay clear of some of the most stubborn mess we’ve put it through.
Roborock Q Revo
The Q Revo is an entry-level robot vacuum and mop that provides a wide range of features at a fair price. You can get many of the high-end features, such as smart navigation and mapping without paying top dollar. You can also use voice commands through Alexa, Google Assistant, or Apple Siri shortcuts to create custom automations, and then start cleaning at any time while you’re away.
Roborock has taken its time to design this innovative cleaner. It is extremely well-constructed, and it feels like high-end materials were used to make it. Its base is solid and robust and has the charging port built into the battery. On top, you’ll find the dock for the clean water tank and the water bins that are dirty. Under them, you’ll discover an enclosure that houses the vacuum bag that is sealed.
When you connect your device to the app, you’ll be able to see a 2D or 3D map of your home, which shows where your robot is currently situated and the area it’s cleaning. You can also build virtual barriers to ensure that your robot isn’t in certain areas or to only clean certain types of flooring. It is also able to adjust its power settings based on the floor type being cleaned and choose the most efficient cleaning method.
The Q Revo is unique to many other robot mop vacuum combo vacuums because it can lift both of its mop heads while vacuuming. This prevents carpet fibres from becoming stained. It’s one of the few vacuums that can do this.
The Q Revo’s suction capacity of 5500Pa is enough to get rid of pet hair and dust specks when mopping. And the all-rubber brush is great at disentangling human and animal hair and also adapting to uneven surfaces.
The only downside to this model is that it takes an extended time to fill and empty both the clean and dirty tanks. Luckily, you can reduce the frequency of this by using the auto-empty feature, which will automatically empty the container after a few days. It is still necessary to monitor the levels of water in the dock manually though, as there isn’t an automatic reminder.
