Eufy’s main selling point with this device is its laser navigation. The X8 makes use of laser mapping technology that is more accurate than previous Eufy devices. It also takes a lot less time to create a comprehensive picture of your space and stores multiple maps, which is great for homes with multiple floors.
The X8 is still a good vacuum on bare floors that can carry debris under its side brushes and into its 400ml dust bin with relative ease. The Tyres of the X8, despite their circular shape, are very adept at grabbing corners and edges. Our tests showed that it was able to remove 90% of the fur on hard floors.
The basic mopping mode utilizes the same reservoir of water as the vacuuming mode. This is great for spills that aren’t serious, but you can’t control the amount of water that it uses. That said, it does an admirable job of picking up pet hair, with a higher pickup rate than the Roborock S7.
3. Miele RX2
Miele’s RX2 robotic vacuum is known for its quiet, effective appliances. It has a beautiful design, superb navigation and an impressive cleaning power. However, it does have some operational issues which prevent it from being considered as the best overall smart robot vacuum.
The RX2 is equipped with a dual-sensor mapping system which uses LIDAR to map the space, and a pair 3D scanning cameras to detect and staying clear of obstacles (such as furniture legs or pet waste). Once mapped, the app lets you assign virtual no-go areas and favorite sections that the robot will automatically clean. You can also manually change cleaning modes, start a manual clean, or view live feeds of the onboard cameras from the main screen.
The RX2’s sensors are effective in registering furniture and other obstructions in real-time. The suction and sweeping power are top of the line and cleans up surface debris from carpets of medium pile and dust on floors with no floor. It’s not the most powerful robot available. It’s not the best climber and has issues with transition strips made of steel.

This budget robovac looks just like your typical robot but it’s a step up in performance and features. Its intelligent mapping system creates 3D and 2D maps of your house and uses them to navigate and stay clear of obstructions. It’s even able to spot common obstructions such as power cords and furniture legs in real-time. This combination of sensors, together with a bump sensor and an infrared sensor for dropping that keeps it away from the stairs make it one of the most agile vacuums we’ve tried.
It was able to climb over carpets with thick shags and did not get stuck (unlike the RoboVac 11s, or Roomba 690-). Its navigation abilities were also impressive. Its composite score for carpet and bare flooring beats the competition and it was able to pick up 98.5 percent of the surface litter and embedded dog hair that we tested in our lab samples.
The controls are simpler than those of the competition’s. There’s a clean button at the top and you can start it by using the app or via voice commands with Alexa or Google Assistant. You can also schedule weekly or daily cleanings, designate no-go zones and check its history of cleaning. In a smart dark gray plastics, Ion feels sturdy and looks attractive in your home. Its rear dust bin is easy to empty and removing the filter is just as simple.
5. Eufy 11S
Eufy 11S is an excellent option for those looking for a robot vacuum that’s simple and has no frills at a reasonable price. This model lacks some smart features such as Alexa integration and digital mapping that are found in higher-end models. If you don’t require these functions, you can save money.
The robot is easy to install and use. It does not require a smartphone application or Wi-Fi pairing. However it does come with an remote control that allows you to choose between various modes and adjust the suction levels. It also lets you manually turn off the robovac for scheduled cleaning.
During our tests, we found that the 11S was extremely efficient in removing dirt and fur from hard floors and low-pile carpets. Its slim profile allowed it to pass under furniture that is low-hanging and other objects that bulkier robots could not reach. It was able to go easily over thresholds of doors and switch between floors of different types to another.
The 11S, like other robots, will also eat some objects, such as cords and cat toys. The manufacturer suggests that you can avoid this by keeping these items off the floor and by using an organizer for cords if you can. It also suggests cleaning the dustbin periodically replacing the filters, and changing or washing the brushes as required.
iRobot Roomba 990
The Roomba is iRobot’s flagship robot vacuum. It’s pricey, but it’s also the best robot vacuum that you can purchase. Its self-navigating features and environmental mapping are a wonder to behold.
