Mesothelioma is a tumor of the mesothelium, which covers a variety of parts of the body. It is usually caused by exposure to asbestos, a heat and fire-resistant mineral that is used in insulation and other construction materials.
The symptoms of mesothelioma can vary based on the nature and location of the tumor. They can be accompanied by a persistent cough that is painful, chest pains and difficulty breathing.
