Combo is the first mop from iRobot and vacuum robot. It’s also its best-looking. The top of the machine is brushed aluminum, and the iRobot Logo are more sophisticated than the blatant designs of competitors.
The iRobot Robot Vacuums: Effortless Cleaning for Any Home Home application is used to guide and set up your robot. The app gathers data on usage and maps of your house including furniture and obstacles. Maps and images are only shared if you’ve opted-in.
It’s not a mop.
The Combo Irobot is a intelligent mopping robot that has all the smarts of the fantastic Roomba J7+ and adds an on-board water reservoir, a small mopping pad, and a clever robot arm that lifts and lowers the pad. It can do many tasks in 11 minutes before running out of juice, and then automatically returning to its base station for recharge.
The combo model also features the iRobot home app, which means you can start and stop cleaning runs. It’s also a stylish robot, with matte black plastic that doesn’t show dust or fingerprints and an aluminum top piece that is brushed with the small iRobot logo.
It does a great job of vacuuming, with no issues traversing over large area rugs or transition strips between flooring surfaces. It’s also able to pick up fine dust that other robotic vacuums don’t. However, it’s not so well in the field of mow. It’s not able to completely eliminate dried milk stains, for example unless you’ve sent it out at least four or five times.
IRobot’s specialized Braava Jet M6 mopping machine, which is available as combination with the J7 Plus often for less than the combination Combo is much more effective in this, and other difficult tasks. It can also clean up wine and ketchup spills, but I would not recommend it to be used after any liquids that contain a large amount of sugar.
It’s a vacuum
It’s among the most attractive robot vacuums. The top part is smooth and doesn’t display dirt or fingerprints as easily as other models. The tiny dustbin and water tank are easy to open and close, although they’re not the best in terms of capacity. The Combo J7+ also comes with the features you’d would expect from iRobot, including map and obstacle avoidance mapping that operates efficiently and quickly. The mopping arm is the thing that makes this model stand out in its category. The mop pad is kept on the top of the robot vacuum. However, when it spots a surface that needs mopping the pad is moved beneath and behind the robotic vacuum. This is a major improvement from other robot vacuums that require you to manually remove the mop pad in order to mop hard floors and carpets, or even turn the whole unit off for mopping.
It’s an electric charging station
Place your Combo Irobot on the charging station and align the metal contacts on the base. The charging station is simple to set up and works well. During my testing, it took a few minutes for the robot to start charging and to make a noise when it was completed. After the Combo irobot is recharged, you can begin a mapping run in the app to help it understand your home. The app allows you to mark certain objects as permanent avoidances, like lamp cords. You can also connect your robot to Alexa or Google Assistant, so you can use voice commands to direct it around your home.
It’s a smart device
Combo irobots make use of acoustic as well as onboard sensors to understand the type of floor it’s encountering, as well as the objects that are in your home. It then combines this information with maps of your surroundings and information from the robot’s onboard camera to develop a custom cleaning plan for each space.
