The best cheap robot vacuum mop way to keep your home clean is to use a robotic vacuum. It can remove dust, pet hair and other debris from the surface before it becomes a bigger problem.
Some robots connect to smart assistants such as Alexa and Google Assistant for a hands-free experience. Look for models that can be recharged and continue cleaning the area they left.
1. iRobot S8
This smart robot mop and vacuum is a great option for a wide range of households. It is able to vacuum and mop well, has excellent navigation with both GPS and laser sensors and comes with a variety of features and controls that are available via the app. It also has a handy feature that lets you add cleaning zones to certain areas that require more attention and Keep Out zones that you don’t want it to go. It also gets software updates, similar to the other Roomba products, which make it better over time.
It’s expensive however, it’s also one of the most advanced robot vacuums ZDNet has tested. It has a powerful battery that can vacuum the entire house in less than two hours. It can also switch between mopping and vacuuming at the touch of the button. And, unlike other self-emptying robots that require you to empty the bin after each run, this one automatically emptys into the larger waste container that is above its charging dock.
It also has a number of other features, such as intelligent obstacle avoidance that uses cameras in conjunction with processor-powered smarts in order to detect obstacles. It’s not often damaged or stuck during a cleaning process and is also the most effective in avoiding power cables and other objects I’ve tested. However, it isn’t as reliable at detecting pet waste and other dangers.
2. Eufy RoboVac Hybrid X8
Eufy, owned by Anker is now a household name in the world of budget robot vacuums. However, it didn’t provide an option to mop. That changes with the X8 Hybrid, which has an impressive set of modern features that can compete against more expensive models.
The laser navigation system is the main selling point of this machine. The X8 makes use of the laser mapping system, which is more precise than previous Eufy devices. It also takes a lot less time to build up an accurate map of your space and stores multiple maps, which is ideal for multi-floor homes.
The X8 is still a good vacuum on floors with no dust and can sling debris over its side brushes and into its 400ml dust bin with ease. The Tyres of the X8, despite their circular shape, are very good at grabbing edges and corners. It’s not a great kitty litter picker, though, with our tests showing it is able to remove around 90 percent of the fur off hard floors.
There’s a basic mopping option which uses the same water tank as the vacuuming. This is great for spills that aren’t serious, but you can’t control the amount of water it uses. It does a good job at picking up pet hair. It has a higher percentage of hair removal than the Roborock S7.
3. Miele RX2
Miele’s RX2 robotic vacuum is known for its quiet, efficient appliances. It features a stunning design, excellent navigation and an impressive cleaning power. It has some oddities in its operation that keep it from being named the best smart robot vacuum.
Like iRobot’s latest models like the RX2 comes with a dual-sensor mapping system that utilizes a LIDAR sensor to map the space and three 3D scanning cameras that can detect and avoid obstacles (like furniture legs or pet waste) in real-time. Once mapped, the app lets you assign virtual no-go areas and areas that you want to clean. will clean automatically. You can also manually change cleaning modes, start a manual clean, or view live feeds of the onboard cameras from the main screen.
The RX2’s sensors work well in registering furniture and other obstructions in real-time. The suction and sweeping abilities are exceptional, taking away surface debris from carpets of medium pile and also removing dust that has been deposited on floors. It’s not the fastest robotics on the market. It’s not the most efficient climber and has issues with metal threshold transition strips.

It’s important for a robot capable of doing the job and that’s why our ZDNet team has tested and looked over some of the most popular models to help you pick the right one for your home.
4. Shark ION
This budget-friendly Robot Cleaner And Mop is just like a typical robot, but it’s a step up in performance and features. Its smart mapping system creates 2D and 3-D maps of your house and uses them to navigate around and avoid obstructions. It can even detect common obstacles like furniture legs and power cords in real-time. This combination of sensors, together with a bump sensor, and an infrared drop sensor that keeps it from falling down stairs make it one of the fastest vacs we’ve tried.
In our tests, it easily could climb over the thick shag rug and didn’t get stuck on them (like the RoboVac 11s or Roomba 690). Its navigation skills were also impressive; its composite score in carpet and bare floors topped the competition and it was able to pick up 98.5 percent of the surface litter and embedded pet hair from our lab test samples.
The controls are simpler than the competitors. There’s an oblong cleaning button at the top, and you can launch it via the app or by voice commands using Alexa or Google Assistant. You can also schedule weekly or daily cleanings, designate no-go zones and check its cleaning history. Ion is covered in a smart dark gray plastic that looks and feels beautiful in your home. Its rear dust bin is easy to empty and cleaning the filter is equally easy.
5. Eufy 11S
Eufy 11S is a great option if you’re looking for a robot vacuum that’s simple and has no frills at a low cost. It lacks some of the more advanced features, like digital mapping and Alexa integration, found in higher-end models, but if you’re not looking for these features, you can save some money with this model.
This robot is very easy to set up and use. It does not require smartphone application or Wi-Fi pairing. However it does include a remote control which lets you choose between different modes and adjust suction levels. It also lets you manually turn off the robovac during scheduled cleaning.
During our tests, the 11S was very effective at removing pet hair and dirt on hard floors and in carpets with low pile. Its slim profile allowed it to fit under furniture with low hanging and other items that bulkier robots could not reach. It was able to get easily over thresholds of doors and transition between floors of different types to another.
The 11S, like other robots, can also eat certain objects, like cords and cat toys. The manufacturer suggests that you can avoid this by keeping these items off the floor and robot Cleaner and mop by using a cord organizer if possible. It also suggests that you regularly clean the dustbin, replace the filters and wash or change the brushes when needed.
6. IRobot Roomba 990
The Roomba 980 is the flagship robot vacuum. It’s expensive however it’s top-performing and arguably the most advanced robot vacuum you can purchase. Its self-navigating capabilities and environmental mapping are truly a marvel to behold. It has more advanced automation than the majority of its competitors, including the ability to set up virtual boundary markers through its mobile application. It’s a powerful robot vacuum, even though its app is a bit sluggish and the 980 spins out when it comes across cables.
We love the 980 due to its iAdapt2.0 navigation sensors and its visual simultaneity mapping and localisation (or vSLAM) to remember your home’s floor plan. It will then use the information to create an efficient and consistent cleaning path for every cycle. The result is cleaner floors and a more efficient vacuum than other high-end robot vacuums.
The 980’s other features include two multi-surface rubber brushes that pick up dirt from hard floors and carpet as well as an ejector brush that moves debris into the robotic vacuum’s bin. The sensors for floor tracking help it navigate between furniture and around edges, while Cliff Detect prevents the Roomba from slipping down stairs. It can also return automatically to the base station to allow for charging between sessions. Although the 980’s battery lifespan and bin size aren’t as good as those of other robot vacuums it’s a solid and reliable machine that can keep your floors spotless for hours and hours.
