iRobot Roomba 694″
The Roomba from iRobot is a basic robot vacuum that works well on both floors that are unfinished and low-pile floor carpet. It is able to suction well however, it struggles with larger debris such as sand or grains of rice. It also does a good job at cleaning pet hair however it isn’t impervious to tangling as top Roomba models like the j7 or I6.
The Roomba 694 is simple to use. It has a trio of buttons on its cover: ‘Clean’ starts an entire cleaning cycle and ‘Dock’ allows it to be put back in its charging station and ‘Spot Clean’ initiates a targeted clean. It can be controlled via an app for smartphones that lets you schedule cycles, stop/start the cycle and change settings. You can also connect the device with smart home devices such as Alexa or Google Assistant to control it via voice.
This vacuum is a little slower than others, but it is still able to reach most corners and crevices. It has a big bin that makes it easy to empty. It is compatible with digital mapping and virtual barriers which allows you to make the robot avoid certain areas or to stop cleaning altogether to prevent it from becoming stuck.
It’s not the top for its price, but it’s still better than most other options. The Roborock E4 is more advanced than the Roomba 694, with a much better cleaning performance for carpets that are low and bare. It also has a more durable battery and a better path. It also feels more durable and has fewer components that need regular maintenance, is less expensive to maintain over its life, and charges faster than the 694.
It’s also worth taking a look at other models that are more expensive in the iRobot line, such as the 981 or the v7. During our tests, we found that the IQ was able to handle pet hair effectively. It was able to eliminate lots of debris on bare floors and a decent amount of rug with a medium pile. It was less efficient with shag carpets, as it struggled to get at dirt and dust that was embedded in the fibers. It was able to maneuver the legs of a chair, tiny spaces, and even the base of an IKEA wooden step stool. It was slower on bare flooring however, it was able to recover speed and did better than other robots we have evaluated.
The IQ is a more suitable option for most users than the iRobot Roomba. It has a larger dustbin and a longer battery lifespan and is more adept at navigating obstacles. It comes with a mopping tool that can remove sticky debris. The iRobot is, on the other hand feels more sturdy, has fewer components that require replacement or maintenance, incurs less recurring costs, can create virtual no go zones using its companion application.
